This year we are very excited to be partnering with the brilliant Stamford Strings - a specialist shop making, restoring and selling instruments from the violin family. Together we will be producing a series of lectures, workshops, open rehearsals and social media happenings in the lead up to and during this year’s Stamford International Music Festival.
SIMF Founder, Director Freya comments:
"The moment I reconnected with Libby Summers, who launched Stamford Strings in 2020, I knew I was talking with a kindred spirit who shared not only my love of chamber music but also my determination to bring that music to a wide and diverse community."
Libby Summers adds
“As a violin teacher, violinist and mother of a young violinist in her twenties, I am passionate about supporting young artists in their career. I have a personal connection with the Goldmark family as my violinist daughter Jess shared a teacher with Freya and her brother Reuben, and Jess and Reuben used to play duets while I chatted to Freya’s Mum! I have been watching Freya’s career take off from the side-lines and when I first attended an SIM festival concert at Browne’s hospital in 2019 I was impressed and inspired to support her in any way I could. I am delighted to now be in a position to do so, as Director of Stamford Strings.”

Stamford Strings (in St Leonard’s Street Stamford) bravely opened in the middle of the pandemic and has quickly established itself as both a centre of excellence for new making, restoration and violin sales and also as an invaluable resource for all string musicians whether they be top professionals, students or enthusiastic amateurs.
